Hace aproximadamente un año, el destino les puso en una situación que muchos considerarían envidiable. Un magnate ruso quiso hacerse con la propiedad de la isla. Tenía planeada la construcción de una mansión de lujo donde pasar el verano. Para ello, debido a una ley con más de 20 años de antigüedad, debía obtener la firma y autorización de cada uno de los 12 miembros del poblado de Ajani y Daren. A cambio, se les ofreció toda una vida llena de lujos en la isla vecina, Luzón, tanto para ellos como para las 3 generaciones que les sucedieran.
